Silent night, Holy night… yeah, maybe. It was assuredly holy. The rest was probably more like a Christmas play put on by toddlers: the script was more like a guideline; everything was borderline chaotic; no one really knew what they were supposed to do or if they were doing it “right”; the Director was standing by, but not wanting to stifle anyone’s performance, He allowed His cast to express themselves to their full capacity in the manner of their choosing. And in the end… perfection.
The only
criteria for that first Christmas was the Son of God. All of the other details fell into place regardless of lack of planning, organization, expectation, or comfort. The same is true today. The criteria for Christmas has not changed in over 2,000 years. Despite the stipulations we place on ourselves for Christmas, the only requirement is the Son of God. May this Christmas mirror that first Christmas, and may our criteria be the same now as it was then: the Son of God alone.
Merry Christmas, from Maranatha Tours!
